If you don't know by now I love ART in all it's forms...whether it be a framed piece, a statue, or even a stage play and or films. However, I have an obsession with Illustrations and Paintings. I have been drawing and painting since I was 6yrs. My mother notice this talent and tried to foster it by enrolling me into art classes. And I was grateful because it was something that I loved doing. I also attended college majoring in visual communication/graphic design. But we aren't here to talk about me. It's all about ZAHIRA KELLY.. I'm not the first and I wont be the last!
Zahira Kelly, Afro-Latina Dominicana Artist is truly divine. She is a super talented Pin-Up Artist, Illustrator, Photographer, just to name a few. I've only just came across her work as my illustration obsession increases. I have never met her, She captures a woman's essence with her style in the most sensual, powerful and colorful way with a dash of vintage contemporary . All of the women look so natural they look like me or women I know. They are like your true average women, not the unrealistic portrayals we see on tv. magazines, music videos and after they have altered themselves with tons of plastic surgery. No offense because I might get a suck or tuck or two after having my kids.
But they are real gorgeous "Women of Nubian Heritage" that don't look like what society & the media say that a young woman should look like. I'm in love and I'm slightly envious of the unique style that she was able to develop because she stuck with her illustration passion. I'm inspired to start developing my own style of illustrations and see what comes of it.
