My Favorite Rose | Evening Primrose | Charu Naava

Updated: Oct 16, 2020

Hey You!

At the age of 26, I started experiencing night sweats and hot flashes. I was sweating easily and always wet. Sleeping at night was uncomfortable because my sheets would eventually be wet. I was also retaining water and feeling bloated more than usual. I finally had my hormonal levels tested and found out I was experiencing "Premature Menopause" symptoms. Thou the symptoms weren't consistent at the time, when they came they were intense. When I turned 30, I found out that my older sisters had experienced the same thing at early ages as well. I was placed on birth control but the side effects for me weren't good. So, I decided to go the natural route as I typically do knowing that my body response better. I remembered my cousin Mia telling me about an oil called Evening Primrose. It was an oil I could take internally and externally for those symptoms and it would also help with my skin she said. 3 months later with consistent use I noticed a difference in my skin and my symptoms had lessen. It didn't happen over night, week or within a month even but there were improvements and changes.

ABOUT EVENING PRIMROSE

Evening Primrose oil, is the oil from the seed of the evening primrose plant. Evening primrose oil is used for skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne. It is also used for rheumatoid arthritis, weak bones (osteoporosis), Raynaud’s syndrome, multiple sclerosis (MS), Sjogren’s syndrome, cancer, high cholesterol, heart disease, a movement disorder in children called dyspraxia, leg pain due to blocked blood vessels (intermittent claudication), alcoholism, Alzheimer’s disease, and schizophrenia.

Some people use evening primrose oil for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS); asthma; nerve damage related to diabetes; an itching disorder called neurodermatitis; hyperactivity in children and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD); obesity and weight loss; whooping cough; and gastrointestinal disorders including ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and peptic ulcer disease.

Women use evening primrose oil in pregnancy for preventing high blood pressure (pre-eclampsia), shortening labor, starting labor, and preventing late deliveries. Women also use evening primrose oil for premenstrual syndrome (PMS), breast pain, endometriosis, and symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes.

OTHER USES: In Foods:

evening primrose oil is used as a dietary source of essential fatty acids. Acne:

To take advantage of this evening primrose oil health benefit regarding hormonal acne, you can take an evening primrose oil capsule daily. You can also put the oil on your face directly. This is known to help with the healing process and improve the overall appearance of your skin.

Hair Loss:

Men and women struggle with hair loss, and sometimes the best way to prevent this issue it with diet or supplements. When it comes to hair, hormones play a significant role—including in the hair pattern found on your head, as well as the rest of your body.

You can also rub evening primrose oil into your hair or add it to your shampoo. Those who used essential oils daily noticed significant hair regrowth. Besides using evening primrose oil for this remedy, try lavender, cypress, and lemongrass essential oils too.

Hormones:

Women can take primrose oil to naturally treat PMS symptoms because of its essential fatty acid content.

Consuming essential fatty acids creates a healthy environment for conception; they help you lose weight and produce balanced hormones. I recommend that you take 1,500 milligrams, beginning on the first day of your menstrual cycle, until ovulation.

NOW® Super Primrose is extracted by a natural mechanical method (expeller pressed) without the use of hexane or other chemical solvents. Super Primrose is a more potent, concentrated form of Evening Primrose Oil. Evening Primrose Oil is a good source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA), an Omega-6 essential fatty acid that imparts important health benefits.

This is my brand of choice when it comes to this oil. I take this 2x a day and I apply this to my face and body. I simply pierce the softgel with a sanitized needle and apply it to my damp face, under my eyes and around my hip area along with another oil. Adding Vitamin E oil (externally and internally) and Rose Hip oil(externally only) is a SUPER treatment for your face and body. So, if you are having these issues give this Rose oil a try! Just know that this is not a Cure just a treatment.
