Me, Who Dove Into | 2018 What's To Come | Naava Stylebook

Updated: Oct 18, 2020

Hey You!

As, 2017 was coming to an end, there was a burst of creation, a feeling of reverence inside and all around me. Beginning this blog, I didn't think about "what if I make it to the end of 2017". I just had overall goals and ideas I curated. Looking back, I just didn't think that far in advance. But I did realize month by month my overall goals were at the forefront of my mind. And so, I came to a new REVELATION. I didn't need to see the ending (a year worth) of this blog and how I would celebrate it.

You see, I was committed from the start. I knew or should I say... I had a guideline of what I wanted to do. I knew I didn't want this to be short term. Therefore, I didn't treat it as a short term/side thing. I was invested. I took it step by step as best as I could. Even when things didn't go exactly how I envisioned or wanted, I didn't want to jump ship. I was loyal to my vows and I needed to be selfish. Just really selfish. It was the best selfish decision I have ever made in my life.

You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

So, I guess I have been waiting for this year, 2018. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time. To look back at this accomplishment of a year worth of work. It all worked out and came together as it should have. All the signs, details along the way and the things that resonated in my spirit, mind, body and soul. All the clarity I have received. The knowing and more importantly the things I have accepted. Whether or not, If I could or could not change them ...is irrelevant. But you know what, I discovered, I can change certain things a lot actually. And after a year of persistence and dedication, it’s finally arrived! And it's not about the numbers or the world's definition of anything worthy/successful.

Building this brand and discovering myself...it's enlightening. It's like a small external representation of myself at my core. Something I have sensed on the inside of myself since I was in middle school. This coming of fullness, awareness, and learning to articulate it and execute it...it's the process (the clique saying) that's been so much fun and exhilarating. This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Honestly, back in 2001, I think I have been wanting some version of this. Some version of this type of platform to exist. With the help of some talented people, I have made it a reality. Dreams do come true, but only if you’re willing to put in the hard work, endless hours and push yourself beyond what you think you’re capable of. There were many ups and downs during this process, but nothing worth having comes easy. There’s something new and noteworthy happening everyday and so much noise constantly going on. With time came many learning lessons and experience to get me to this point.

Winter style is all about layering in my opinion. Layering different patterns, textures, colors, and/or tones. A winter cyclone came to the east coast this week and brought colder temperatures to Atlanta. It wasn't enough to bring out my winter boots I just purchased a week ago. However, it gave me the chance to wear my suede over the knee boots and layer myself with 2 of my staple colors from my wardrobe. Cobalt Blue and Grey (all shades). This is a Chic Look with a Western Flair with my Steve Madden Saddle Crossbody Bag. Winter doesn’t have to be boring at all…be daring and mix things up!
